HOMEWORK
For over the semester, you will be working on a brand and create its assets, including logo, typography, business cards, posters and more!
Thus for next week, brainstorm and pick a brand that you would be interested in building an identity for. The brand can either be personal or imaginary. Think about the mission, vision, values and positioning of the brand. Then, create a moodboard via pinterest, where you can pin visual ideas you might have for your identity. You will submit the pinterest link and answer a few questions about your brand.

Types of Logos
HOMEWORK
1. Create three stylescapes using the moodboard photos you saved on pinterest. They should be 385px * 1430px in size. Ideally, the stylescapes are all different diections you can take your brand in, and reflect the values, mission and vision you set.
2. Sketch on paper 30~ logo thumbnails, roughly 10 for each style. Be sure to sketch different types of logos as learnt!
3. Compile both stylescapes and images/scans of the logos into one PDF file, and submit below. Name it by FirstName_LastName_BrandName.
For each element in the stylescapes, you are mainly taking photo inspiration of what your brand will look like, so put in logos that you like from online, color palettes, possible fonts, assets, hero shots of the person you are marketing for! The stylescapes can be very rough, but feel free to go all out so you have a solid understand of what your brand could look like!
For the logos sketches, we aim for quantity over quality, and we can refine them in the coming weeks. They should be monochrome for now, as it should work with or without color. If you need feedback for either homeworks, feel free to email us/message!

Choose a stylescape (or combine/refine them) and logo ideas you like from that direction, and create 20 more logos in black and white.
It is ideal you use illustrator/digitize your logos as eventually your final logo will be digital, and you can test your designs to see if they work digitally! However, you still can sketch it out if you prefer. Be ready to present and justify your ideas.
Please submit as a PDF with the naming convention: FirstName_LastName_BrandName.

Asychronous Critique
ANNOUNCEMENTS
We cancelled class this week to relieve stress from elections! Instead, we will be doing an asychronous critique session, and you can hop onto the slides with your work dropped inside for more instructions or read the email we sent. They are due 11:59PM on Wednesday!
Note we only have three classes left, as next week is also cancelled as it is Veteran's day. We will also be going over portfolio, personal branding, accessibility, and inclusivity in the last few lessons.
HOMEWORK
Read the feedback you got from your work and incorporate them into your designs. Given there is no class for two weeks, use this time to polish all your assets and create two more assets to have a whole branding package. This would bring you to a total of five assets: business card, poster, asset #1, #2 and #3. This will be the second to last homework session to work on your brand, so make sure you are satisfied with what you have.
Make sure the assets vary between all of them! Also, some of you went ahead already and made a lot of assets for this week! For those of you who have done that try to polish them, combine them (e.g. product mockups for a website), make more posters, or choose more assets that fit wihtin your brand. If you need any help for specific assets (e.g. UI/UX, animation), let us know!
Please submit your posters as a PDF with the naming convention: FirstName_LastName_BrandName.

HOMEWORK
There is no class next week! So please use this time to finalize your brand assets based on the feedback provided to you! Please think about ways you can elevate your brand with mockups and be able to rationalize each with a design decision - always think about your users.
Feel free to make one more final asset (highly recommended) and ask us for feedback anytime! We're always here to help.
Please submit your all your assets into a single PDF with the naming convention: FirstName_LastName_BrandName.
